Florence Boynton and the Berkeley Historical Society

This program will be a presentation on the theatrical and fashion collection of Florence Boynton, dancer and choreographer, and her family. Boynton was a friend of Isadora Duncan and one of the more notorious inhabitants of Berkeley’s “Nut Hill” in the early 1900s.
Shelley Rideout, past-president of CSA Western Region and co-author of Berkeley Bohemia, will give an illustrated lecture on Boynton and the unusual clothing collection of the Berkeley Historical Society.
The program will include a viewing of the Berkeley Historical Society’s Fall 2011 exhibit commemorating the centennial of California women’s fight for the vote. This program will also include our annual membership meeting.”
