There seems to be a growing roster of peer reviewed academic fashion journals, and the newest is Fashion, Style & Popular Culture (Intellect Ltd). Its inaugural issue will appear in October 2013 (see the call for papers here).
Reading the description on Intellect’s website, it seems that the journal might have grown as a subset out of the Popular Culture Associations regular conference, and its fashion sessions. Editors not only include Joseph Hancock of Drexel University and Patricia Cunningham of Ohio State University – but also Susan Kaiser from UC Davis. Congratulations to the editors on getting this off the ground!

Excellent new for dress studies!
Yes. I feel like scholars in this field took a sigh of relief. Fashion history, consumerist history, and material culture are subjects that need to be explored. It shapes and helps us understand our buying culture!
I wish them every success on this new venture…and will be looking for it in databases!
