Vancouver, WA (just a few minutes from Portland, OR).<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 295px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.columbian.com\/news\/2012\/dec\/04\/christmas-at-fort-vancouver-a-stitch-in-time\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/columbian.media.clients.ellingtoncms.com\/img\/photos\/2012\/12\/03\/253174_stitch_in_time_3_t600.jpg?4326734cdb8e39baa3579048ef63ad7b451e7676\" alt=\"\" width=\"295\" height=\"221\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Seamstress  Brigid Nelson lets down the hem of a dress. The dye that produced the  color -- chrome orange -- was formulated in the early 1800s.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This full-day event will include a private tour of the\u00a0Costume Center,\u00a0a  visit to historical Oregon City, (&#8220;the end of the Oregon Trail&#8221;), a  demonstration of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.victoriana.com\/Embroidery\/fishscale_embroidery.htm\">Victorian Fish Scale Embroidery<\/a>, and much more. The registration <strong>deadline is August 30, 2013<\/strong>.
